While waiting for some of my guildies to get on, I actually wanted to know this, so I started taking a random poll as I saw people and noted the names to prevent duplicates.

I took a sample of the first 500 people I saw in post-ascalon. For what it's worth... these were the numbers, rounded to the nearest %:

For Primary:

1. Warrior (27%)
2. Ranger (21%)
3. Necromancer (20%)
4. Elementalist (14%)
5. Monk (13%)
6. Mesmer (5%)

For Secondary (I found interesting):

1. Monk (40%) WOW!
2. Necromancer (16%)
3. Ranger (14%)
4. Mesmer (12%)
5. Elementalist (11%)
6. Warrior (7%)

Therefore, according to my data:

The most is: W/Mo

The least is : Me/W

(edited for spelling )

Interesting compliation. This confirmed what I thought to be the most common class. But are Warrior/Monk easy to solo on mission in Post Searing? I'm a Ele/Necro and I'm finding it hard to do some quest even with henchmen. The monsters simply overwhelm me. (groups of 6!) How nice it would be if I could find a party of elementists who could spam firestorms.

Actually, it's not that W/Mo are the most common profession... athough you could make this argument... what is notable is that 2 out of every 5 people I saw took Monk as their secondary profession .

I don't see N/W a lot either, since it's a great combination!

Good stuff, I think one of the primary reasons is because of the monk location. Its right there before catacombs, which is usually the first place you meet a trainer. I think people either dont realize its permanant and do it, or they do not give the other classes thought since they get all the cool spells and stuff right then. Thats without counting those of us who chose the class on purpose.

i chose monk for a secondary proffesion not cause its easier to attain the skills for it but for the protection skills and of course the ability to rez, all of which are important since my primary is mesmer and in pvp right after monks were usually the next primary targets. i feel the longer i can shutdown the opposing teams casters and draw the attention of the dps classes the more of a fighting chance it gives my damage dealers to due their thing.
